What Is Speech Therapy?
If your child has a speech disability that includes trouble pronouncing words, speech therapy may help improve language development, communication, and pragmatic language skills
How do I Know if my Child Needs Speech Therapy?
If your child’s disability is present at an early age, your health care team may recommend speech therapy as part of your child’s early intervention plan. There are also language developmental milestones that you can monitor to make sure your child is on track and talk to your doctor if you suspect any problems.
How Long Will my Child Need Speech Therapy?
The length of therapy depends on the severity of the problem and the rate of progress made in the therapy sessions and during reinforcement at home and in the community.
How Hearing Aids Help?
A hearing aid is a battery-powered electronic device designed to improve your hearing. Small enough to wear in or behind your ear, they make some sounds louder. They may help you hear better when it's quiet and when it's noisy. Here’s how they work:
  • A microphone picks up sound around you.
  • An amplifier makes the sound louder.
  • A receiver sends these amplified sounds into your ear.
How many years should I expect my hearing aid to last?
The average hearing aid lasts between 3 – 5 years.
How do I know if the battery is in the hearing aid correctly?
Hearing aid batteries have a positive and negative side, just like any other battery. Generally, there will be a red “+” sign on the battery door indicating the positive side should be up. The positive side of a hearing aid battery is flat and has a “+” sign on it.
